Advice from the South African Government that group events of more than 100 people are prohibited has resulted in the Executive recommending that competitions planned in the coming months are to be postponed pending further Health Department updates.
On average, dancing competitions attract more spectators than the requirement as laid down by President Ramaphosa. We, therefore, recommend the Highland Dancing community adhere to the social interaction restrictions in place in our country. The Pipe Bands’ Association of South Africa has postponed events in March and April.
Dancing competitions postponed to date: Vaal Highland Festival – 4 April, Cornwall Hill College Highland Gathering and Tygerberg Highland Festival,18 April. Notifications received from Competition Organisers regarding future events will be advised. Further information will be broadcast as and when current restrictions are re-visited.

The RSOBHD recommends that, in all affected areas, all events are cancelled/postponed for the health and safety of the community.
As a worldwide governing body we are aware that the situation is changing on a daily basis and therefore the timeframe of this recommendation is until further notice.
We encourage everyone to conform to the guidelines and behavioural recommendations of the WHO in an attempt to reduce the rate of infection of the virus.
